York University is deeply concerned by the motion passed at the York Federation of Students’ AGM yesterday. It reflects neither the views of the university administration nor our community’s standards. We have reached out to the YFS to discuss the motion and next steps. (1/2)
The University is committed to freedom of expression for all students. We will take all necessary steps to ensure approved student groups can hold events and invite speakers to campus in a safe environment, provided those events are consistent with our policies & codes. (2/2)
Hillel York reported that “a day earlier, at its Annual General Meeting, the York Federation of Students (YFS) passed a motion aimed at silencing, and making feel unwelcome, a swath of individuals, including “Israeli representatives”.
