I act for the organizers of the Al Quds Day rally in Toronto. As my clients have stated from the outset, no hate crime was committed at this year’s Al Quds Day rally. This was nothing but a witch-hunt against critics of Israeli apartheid, initiated by pro-Israel propagandists like B’nai Brith Canada and Sue-Ann Levy of The Toronto Sun. Is the Iranian regime guilty of severe human rights violations? Absolutely. Is it as bad as the Zionist regime? No. Moreover, organizers cannot exercise total control in a public protest over every single participant. I have been to the last 2 Al Quds Day rallies and I can say with absolute confidence that very few (if any) of the protesters exhibited any sympathy for the Iranian regime. The vast majority of the participants are there for one simple reason: to defend the human rights of Palestinians.
