Lina Assi is a research assistant at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. She studied Political Science and Labour Studies and served as the President of Solidarity for Palestinian Human Rights McMaster (SPHR) at McMaster University.
On May 18, 2018 Lina Assi alongside Mohamed (Moe) Alqasem and Rawan Habib Master of ceremonies of Nakba Day in Toronto chairing and leading chants en route that included: “Viva viva Intifada, Free Free Palestine”; “The Palestinians have the right to resist by any means necessary”.
The organizers handed out a flyer titled “Chants/slogans for May 18 Demo” that included also the following chants: Resistance is justified when people are occupied!, Long live the Intifada (x2) Intifada, intifada! (x2), From Toronto to Gaza, Globalise the Intifada!”
