On October 17, 2023, the National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM), the leading Muslim advocacy group in Canada, issued two statements on X, accusing Israel of deliberately targeting a hospital in Gaza, causing the deaths of hundreds.

In response to Hamas’ claim about an allegedly Israeli aerial attack targeting the hospital, Israel Defence Forces presented intelligence evidence indicating that the hospital was not damaged, the bombing took place at a parking lot, and it was the result of a misfired rocket launched by Islamic Jihad.
