On July 1, 2021 a group of pro-Palestine activists gathered at in front of Ontario Legislature in Toronto (Queen’s Park) in solidarity with the call to cancel Canada Day.
Firas Al Najim, a Co-Manager of Canadian Defenders For Human Rights (CD4HR), a pro Palestinian organization affiliated with Iran, said in his short speech:
We are here July 1, 2021 as they call it Canada Day, we are listening to Idle No More and to the natives that are oppressed. They said to cancel Canada Day and disrupt all Canada Day celebrations. We cannot celebrate while people are dying, while the children are dying. You can see all these shoes of little children here. They brought here as a resemblance to the situation, how outrageous it was. How could you kill innocent children? And we got people here from the Palestinian solidarity movement, because Palestine is also has been through the colonial problems and they have seen the same type of situation.
The participants chanted:

This land is ain’t for you

Colonizers we don’t need them
What we need is total freedom…

They held signs that read:
This native Palestinian is standing with you
Ashamed to be Catholic
Can’t reform this! Land back!
The Canadian Holocaust
Turtle Island to Palestine genocide is a crime!
Without the indigenous we’d be homeless!
No genocide in God’s name Daesh [aka ISIS, crossed out] Zionism [crossed out] [image of a Cross]
