Nakba Day in Toronto 18 May 2019

Stephen Ellis is a Barrister and Solicitor and a senior activist with the Canadian BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) movement who participates in anti-Israel demonstrations including Al-Quds Day Rally.

On April 21, 2021 Stephen Ellis posted on Facebook:

We invite you to participate in the 3rd Annual Nakba Day of Action

Following from the recent NDP policy convention where a resolution in support of sanctions against apartheid Israel passed with the support of 85% of delegates, now is the time to redouble our efforts in solidarity with the Palestinian people.

On this day recognize the Nakba or “catastrophe” that befell the Palestinian people in 1948. A tragedy that is ongoing.

We also call for:

– no to annexation

– break the siege of Gaza

– end the occupation

– tear down the apartheid wall

– the right of return of all refugees

When: Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 1:00

Where: At the northwest corner of Yonge and Bloor (the Israeli Consulate)

Social distancing, mask and gathering protocols will be observed. We will spread out to the four corners of the intersection.
