Palestinian activists planned a car rally in Winnipeg at the provincial legislature grounds for Saturday to commemorate the antisemitic ‘Nakba 73’ observance. But when they saw a gathering organized by the Israeli Canadian Council across the 8 lanes of Broadway, plans changed and the cars stayed parked.
Instead they crossed the street and pro-Israel demonstrators this afternoon were hit by rocks, water bottles, punches and kicks with police struggling to keep the peace. Officers watched idly when 2 Israeli flags were stolen and burnt in the middle of the street on Broadway.
