Update to the recent antisemitic attack in the Toronto Jewish Community: I spoke with the mother of the Jewish couple who was attacked by antisemites at Viewmount and Bathurst. It was 4 youths who attacked the Jewish couple. The 4 youths first hurled antisemitic statements at the Jewish couple from across the road. The husband replied, “say that to my face”. The 4 youths then crossed the road and 1 youth went to punch the young Jewish husband. He blocked the punch and tripped the antisemite and held him on the ground. His wife ran to the house and called the police. His father came outside and had the antisemite released. The 4 youths fled in 2 different directions. A police officer came to take a report. A police car started to patrol the street slowly looking for the 4 youths. The Jewish couple followed the police car. The Jewish couple then spotted the 4 youths and tried to alert the police car. The police car did not stop for the Jewish couple. The mother then posted the details after Shabbat on a neighborhood WhatsApp group. She said others commented of other antisemitic attacks.
